Motorola Announces Mobile Phone + In-car GPS 'Hybrid'
Motorola recently announced it will offer a new type of mobile phone that doubles as an in-car GPS. Motorola states that the new "Smart Rider" GPS phone will be on the market by June, 2008. Setting it apart from existing mobile phones that offer GPS utility are: voice activation (features to be announced); high sensitivity microphone and a speaker powerful enough to make the phone useful as a stand-alone hands-free calling device; turn-by-turn navigation and voice driving instructions; a 2.8-inch (diagonal) color display, and traffic detection and avoidance via live cellular network connection. A special auto mounting bracket will keep the phone at your fingertips.
