Find the Best Gas Prices by GPS Part III

Thursday June 12, 2008

I recently began testing the new-for-2008 TomTom GO 930 in-car portable GPS, and it comes with a "find fuel prices" feature so new that it's not listed on the TomTom website, and the instructions came on a printed-out addendum to the owner's manual. "TomTom Fuel Prices," the feature's official name, sends gas station price updates to your TomTom when you connect it to your personal computer, or via a wireless Bluetooth connection to a compatible mobile phone.

When your fuel price data has been imported into the GPS navigator, you simply select "TomTom Services" in the touchscreen menu, then "Fuel Prices." You are then able to review fuel prices by: distance from your current location; ranked by price; "cheapest nearby," and by "cheapest in area." Once you select your station by one of these criteria, the navigator will of course give you turn-by-turn directions to get there. Watch for a detailed TomTom GO 930 review (including its Fuel Prices feature) here soon.
