Garmin introduced a new feature called "ecoRoute" earlier this year that received little more than passing mention in the tech press. I've been using ecoRoute on a new Garmin car GPS, and it's impressive. You can select a "less fuel" route option, get real-time feedback on your driving efficiency, check route costs (you input fuel price in setup), and check an ongoing fuel report. The fuel report, for example, includes distance, time traveled, cost of fuel used, average fuel economy (nice feature), fuel used, and carbon footprint (pounds of carbon emitted).
