Garmin G3 Golf GPSGolfers will soon have all of the functionality of the hot Garmin G5 golf GPS in a smaller, lower-cost unit, the just-announced Garmin G3. The G3, to be available in February at a suggested retail price of $349, is based on the popular Garmin Dakota hardware. The G3 (shown here) has a 1.4 x 2.2-inch touchscreen, compared with the 1.5 x 2.6-inch screen of the G5. The overall size and weight of the G3 is lower, also.

Like the G5, the G3 comes preloaded with a database of 12,000+ North American golf courses, and Garmin is promising the addition of European courses by early 2010. Like the G5, there will be no subscription fee for the course database or for database updates.
