HuntinggpsmapsOne of the big challenges for hunters and other outdoors enthusiasts is identifying public versus private lands, and identifying ownership of private lands, in case they want to contact the owner. Land ownership boundaries shown on a map are also useful to real estate agents, surveyors, and other professionals. A Missoula, Montana-based company, HuntingGPSmaps.com, has done the hard work of gathering this information on a state-by-state basis, and offering it as part of its product line. HuntingGPSmaps just added Florida to its catalog, which as of this writing includes 22 states, mostly in the west and midwest. HuntingGPSmaps show color coded land boundaries, as well as available ownership and owner name on topo maps used on compatible Garmin GPS devices. The company sells maps by download or by SD cards that may be plugged directly into compatible Garmin devices. I was impressed with the company's thorough approach, and the usefulness of its Web site, including tutorials and demo videos. HuntingGPSmaps is well worth a visit if you are serious about scouting for hunting, or any pursuit that involves knowledge of land ownership boundaries. Image HuntingGPSmaps.com
