Magellan has introduced its fall-season dedicated car GPS lineup of five new models, to become available beginning in September. New features of note include a safe-texting mode, backup cameras, and portrait mode viewing. Safe texting mode works when you link your smartphone to the GPS via wireless bluetooth. You may pre-set texts, triggered by verbal commands, that inform the person texting you that you are unavailable because you are driving, on your way, etc. Easy-to-install wireless backup cameras are available on the top two models, the RoadMate 5255T-LM and the RoadMate 5265T-LMB. The new RoadMate series models range in price from $159 to $199. The top three models have large, 5-inch (diagonal) screens. Image © Magellan
