Garmin Announces New, Simple, Light, Colorful Forerunner 10 GPS Sport Watch

Simple. Light. Colorful. Easy to use. These are the attributes Garmin sought in the development of the new Forerunner 10 GPS sport watch ($129), announced this morning. "The Forerunner 10 is our lightest, most comfortable running watch yet, and it comes with our trusted accuracy and reliability," said Dan Bartel, Garmin's vice president of worldwide sales. The idea is to simply lace up your shoes, push one button and then run. But the Forerunner 10 provides more than a simple data set. Features include auto-pause and auto-lap, customizable screens, a virtual pacer (compares running pace to target), personal records, and a run/walk mode. The Forerunner 10 also easily uploads all of its data to the online Garmin Connect service, making it easy to keep a detailed route and training log, and to share workout data. What you won't get with the Forerunner 10 are the advanced features found on some of Garmin's other watches, including wireless heart rate monitor, bike-mode features, a foot pod (used for treadmill workouts) and pace alert.
