You've got the nice car, and the cool new slim-profile in-car GPS device, and you've got the windshield suction cup mounting gizmo and the dangling power cord and charger plug. What is wrong with this picture? The unsightly windshield mount and power cord, of course. Volvo and Garmin decided to do something about that by creating a new, customized, dealer-fitted accessory kit that includes a high-end Garmin Nuvi 760 GPS and a dashboard-top mount with no external wiring.
The new Volvo mounting bracket is styled to match Volvo's interior and is positioned so that it does not obstruct the driver's view of the road. The Nuvi 760 fits neatly into the custom-made bracket and the mount folds down to make it even more unobtrusive when the GPS is not in place.
Many new cars come with in-dash GPS as an option, but there are definite advantages to using a portable unit, especially if you can do so with this type of custom mount. With a portable, you can exchange the GPS between vehicles. You can also carry it with you (the Nuvi 760 even has a walking mode) to navigate while you're away from the car.
The Nuvi 760 navigation package fits current production Volvo car models, including the new Volvo C30 and Volvo XC70. It can also be fitted to a selected number of earlier models. The Nuvi 760 accessory kit for Volvo is expected to be available starting in early December 2007. Inquire at your Volvo dealer.
